Reyes

Before I get onto how Northern California rarely disappoints, here’s a shot of the show the hillsides are putting on in SoCal: Hillside Blooms

Saw a glimpse of this on our drive up to El Capitan, but what we ran into on our way to Point Reyes was amazing.  Looked like someone took a highlighter to the hills. I’ve never been a “my goodness will you look at those flowers” type, but my goodness, look at those flowers!

Great preface to the sites to be seen on this trip.  Frankly, we should’ve been home finishing our taxes, but had the chance to go to Point Reyes with good friends and didn’t need to be asked twice to load the Element and hit the road.  Load the Element!

Not only were the sights worth the trip, but our friends knew the area well which lead to some detours and open plans….

But first some the sights:

Spent an entire cloudless day in the Point Reyes Lighthouse area, hiking and climbing in the cold winds, then settling in a sheltered little grassy dip and lounging through a picnic, and nearly a nap…nearly.Picnic at Point Reyes

But with the settling sun came witch’s tit winds, and limited daylight in which to get dinner going (when camping it should be called supper, no?).  So it was absolutely imperative we get back to camp to build a fire.  After we stopped for a little local creamery ice cream.Tomales Bay Foods

Plus, there was a kissing bandit to apprehend…
