You start out giving and surviving. You give, and receive more demands. You give, and receiver more demands, You give, and receive more demands.
And just about the time you can give no more, you can survive with this needy being no more….a smile! Oh…well….it was all worth it now, what a smile! And for me? That’s for me?. Wow. Do it again.
And the giving back begins. The demands don’t stop, but a one way street has opened into a two way.
It isn’t much, but it is so much.
Soon there will be laughs. And “Dada”. And crawls to chase you. Stumbling steps and final lunges in your arms.
There will be “nite nite” and “I love you” and hands held crossing the street.
And one day, you will walk into your bedroom, after last books and bedtime songs, tired, done for the day, and you will find a note on your side of the bed. Just for you.
And it will say “Poop”.
And you will love it.
