Acts of Kindness

Had occasion this morning to walk back through events of childhood with a friend, and it had me thinking about myself as a parent, the turmoil I saw as a child, the commitment of people, especially my mom, to protect me and see me through the roughness to fulfill the best they saw in me. It got me thinking about the influence those experiences, challenges, and generosities have had on me as a parent. And whether I’ve repaid the kindness.

There are many stories to tell, unbelievable situations, battles, curiosities. But not now. Above all, there is one element that has informed who I am, as a man and a father.

I was deeply loved.

Mother's LoveFather's Love

And I am not sure I’ve repaid it sufficiently.
