The drive there felt like driving through the set for “Bonanza” or “Big Valley” – I’m pretty sure I saw Heath Barkley watering his horse.
As a kid I used to wonder if Heath Bars were named after Heath Barkley, who was so cool he got to be Barbara Stanwick’s bastard cowboy son and the bionic man and an over-the-hill stuntman with a cool limp. His cup so runnith over.

The setting was beautiful, and the couple are two beautiful people. The ceremony and words shared were heartfelt and genuine. Seeing Dan cry as soon as he saw Jillian walk down the isle, and hearing him bear his soul to this woman reminded me of my feelings during our wedding and I was very happy for him that he experienced the same overwhelming, raw, true emotion. Relationships are hard. That seed of truth can help you get through those tough times, and, I’ve found, keeps whispering in your ear that “this one’s worth the effort”.
I wish you two love and adventure. I’ve seen you with my children and know that you have a parent’s heart. Write the book on your family your own way and try as much as possible to slay the dragons out there together. I know when the time is right you will come to know the truth that I now know, and that was shared with me by a New York cabbie with nine kids. When I asked him if he was crazy he stopped the car, and, with the most genuine of smiles, turned to me and said “No, because with each child you bring into your home the amount of love grows.”
That was the best advice on having children I have ever received.
