Three

Santana turns three tomorrow. As wonderful as he’s been as a little brother, he has blown me away with the joy and pride with which he’s embraced being a big brother.  One of my worries when Kai came was how Santana would adjust to not being the baby any more.  I wondered if we were being fair to him.

I don’t think anyone could cherish Kai and love on him more than Santana does.  In fact, that may be my favorite trait of his – his desire to openly shower everyone in this family with unbridled love and affection.  Santana carries and represents much of the heart that makes me proud of this family we’re building.  I used to consider him my little bruiser, because of his build.  But I know, really, he’s my little lover.

May he always remain unbridled.

There is nothing quite as beautiful as a big, spontaneous Santana hug. xo
